Holidays for September are as follows: September 6th is Labor Day. If you'd like a little "wild west" festivities, attend the Annual Dayton, IA Rodeo on Labor Day weekend. The 8th is Pardon Day, an opportunity to seek forgiveness where needed, clean the slate, and start anew. The 12th is Grandparents Day, a time to celebrate those special people who are always there with a hug for us. The 21st is Minature Golf Day, so hit your local Minature Golf Course for some fun. We certainly hope that this day and all your days are up to par. And lastly, September 23rd is the first day of Fall. We will soon see the beauty of God's creation in the colorful trees as we enter this Fall season.

THE MESSAGE
“Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up." (Psalm 5:2-3)
A Morning Devotion
Morning can be one of the best times of the day to commune with God in the beauty of His creation. As the sun's fresh rays peek through the trees and across the dew covered grass, I'm reminded that God's mercies are new every morning. The One who made the trees, flowers, birds, insects, sky and sun loves me and gives life to me every day through his Spirit who lives in me.
Sometimes for my quiet time's, I'll take a walk and talk to God in prayer, while enjoying the cool of the day. There's something about the sounds of the birds and the meadow insects in the morning that makes me think about the Garden of Eden. I think of how God likely had walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day, which was probably morning. Eden was no doubt more spectacular than the earth's current condition, but we still are surrounded with so many reminders of our Lord's handiwork. I find the intricate and wondrous diversity of life that He has created to be inspiring for praising and thanking God for what He has made.
I like the above verse because it captures how starting the day with God can help us have the proper perspective for the rest of the day. Our quiet times need not be restricted to the confines of our home. We can get outside for a breath of fresh air and be refreshed with God through the beauty of His creation.
Prayer: Father we thank You for Your beautiful creation. For the changing seasons that we can enjoy and look forward to each year. Thank You for giving us life. We renew our commitment to live for You today and to be used for Your purposes. May we glorify You in thought, word and deed today. We praise You now and forever. Amen.

CHRISTIAN ONE-LINERS
- Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited until you try to sit in their pews.
- It may be easier to preach 10 sermons than it is to live one.
- I'm sure the good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.
- Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on the front door forever.
- Some minds are like concrete; thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.
- God loves everyone, but probably prefers "Fruits of the Spirit" over "Religious Nuts."
